Minor Injuries Unit (MIU)

The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) is based at Barts. Patients are assessed by a trained senior nurse practitioner, and will have their treatment planned within one hour of registration. Patients who need urgent medical attention will be referred directly to the on-call team for that service or to the A&E Department at The Royal London Hospital. MORE>> A&E

The unit is staffed by highly experienced nurse practitioners who are all trained in Advanced Life Support (ALS).

The MIU treats injuries including cuts and grazes, broken bones, minor burns and scalds, bites and stings, strains and sprains, minor head injuries, minor eye or ear problems.


Location

The Minor Injuries Unit is based in the Outpatients Wing at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

Opening times

The unit is open Monday to Friday, 8am-8pm (closed weekends and bank holidays). The MIU will be closed on the forthcoming public holidays Monday 3 May and Monday 31 May.
