Barts and The London Children’s Hospital - Neonatal Intensive Care Appeal

Thank You! You raised the vital funds for new neonatal unit

Tireless fundraising by our dedicated and passionate supporters has raised more than £300,000 for four new neonatal intensive care units.

The arrival of a new baby is a time of great joy and celebration for a family. But, for parents of very small, premature or sick babies, this is a time of enormous anxiety and stress. As parents, their focus is on their newborn’s chances of survival. They want their baby to receive the very best care and medical attention. The neonatal unit at Barts and The London Children’s Hospital is the only centre combining neonatal medical and surgical care for the North Thames region. Our specialist clinicians, who have a world-class reputation, take great care of their tiny patients and know that access to state-of-art equipment can make all the difference to a baby’s survival. Increased demand for our neonatal support and the rapid developments in technology required improvements to the existing Unit. The NHS Trust agreed to cover staff salaries and to pay for four new neonatal life support units. We launched the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit appeal to help buy an additional four additional neonatal life support units.

Today, thanks to your help, we can care for more premature babies, giving them the very best start in life.

“It is so important for us to give these babies the best chance now so that they can achieve their full potential in the future”, Michael Hird, Consultant Neonatologist
