Historic Barts and Smithfield Guided Tours

Conducted by members of the City of London Guide Lecturers Association on behalf of St Bartholomew's Hospital Archives and Museum.

Tours take in the church of St Bartholomew the Less; the Hospital's Square, North Wing and Great Hall, all designed by James Gibbs; and Hogarth's famous biblical paintings. They also visit the church of St Bartholomew the Great (an extra entry fee will be charged by the church) and Cloth Fair in Smithfield.

Tours take place every Friday at 2pm. Meet at the Henry VIII Gate, St Bartholomew's Hospital, West Smithfield, EC1A 7BE. Tours do not take place over the Christmas and Easter holidays.

Cost: £5 per adult, £4 concessions (senior citizens and full-time students). Accompanied children free. Proceeds to Barts Heritage Appeal for the restoration of the Hospital's works of art and other treasures. Additional £3 for entry to St Bartholomew the Great.

The North Wing is a working building and access to some areas may occasionally be restricted

Tours by the Archivists

The Archivists may, at their discretion, conduct tours of St Bartholomew's the Less and the historic North Wing. This is usually done during working hours and a fee of £5 a head is charged.
